The town has very little to offer.
The town has very little to offer. It’s a noisy, chaotic typical Sri Lankan town. The only redeeming factor was Silent Beach on the Western side of town. We also enjoyed a nice meal at Cactus Lounge.

I liked the size of the city - just right to walk anywhere, plenty of options to buy fresh fruit, fish and good local food. The bus stand was easy to be found. There were always tuk tuk drivers around for when you needed it, but sometimes they were too eager to give you a ride even if you didn't want to. The city always felt safe, even at night.. even for a solo traveling young woman. There was a great food booth near the bus stand selling the best shawarma ever! There were plenty of beautiful beaches around, but the sea was too stormy. Nearby in Kapuhenwalla is a good turtle conservation project, where you could go see turtles hatch and lay eggs. I am definitely coming back~

The Hotel Lankavatara was amazing - we can recommend it to anybody! The staff was great, helpfully and friendly, especially Mr. Malshan did a really great job in the service! Tangalle is really nice but it is far better just 2/3 kilometres up the coast at Marocolyia beach and lagoon.Very peaceful and tranquil. This where Coconut Island cabanas is.There is also a small lake about 200 meters from the accommodation which is full with wading birds.Flamingos,Sacred and Glossy Ibis etc etc.

Because it's the last Hotel, and after you have only nature, it's sooo calm and nice...so your soul can take a real rest! If you feel you ned people around you walk along the beach to tangalle...within around 30min you'll be there...on the way find fanrastic shells everywhere... I will come again!!

It´s designed for couples, but we stayed there with our small daughter. Nature near is very nice, lot of colorful birds, peacocks, and other animals. Beach is little bit far away (maybe 20-25 minutes walk). Breakfast was absolutely great, one of the best in Sri Lanka. Our host was very helpful and always smiling :)
