Izamal is a lovely place to visit. We had great food there, walk around and visited the pyramid. We also did a carriage ride around the city. Our guide was very informative about all the temples and apparently we stayed in the first hotel ever build in Izamal so we were told.

A gorgeous and photogenic city that feels much smaller than it is. It doesn’t feel touristy at all. There’s a pyramid in the middle of town that you can climb for free. The carriage driver I used was very personable and knowledgeable.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan.
This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan. It is clean safe and charming. There is a nice little museum in the square and a small craft market each day. There are romantic tours of the town by horse and carriage. The highlight is Convento de San Antonio. It is painted totally in yellow ( as is the town ) and is a stunning photograph moment.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent.
Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent. It's a great town to walk around and it was very surprising to find an amazing Mayan Pyramid just 2 blocks from the town centre, and more amazing to have the whole site to yourself!

I stayed in Izamal for two nights which was the perfect amount of time. There are quite a few Mayan pyramids and chapels scattered throughout the town that are easy to walk to-and-from. The main sight is Convento San Antonio de Padua. Be sure to visit on a Sunday when the church is open.

Izamal is a beautiful town. There is so much rich history.
Izamal is a beautiful town. There is so much rich history. We really wish our stay could have been longer. We highly recommend the horse drawn carriages. We did ours in the evening and our guide was amazing. Marcos was his name and I believe he mainly works in the evenings. Anyway, we cannot wait to come back.
Love the hotel concept: once you enter the property from a dusty road, you find yourself in jungles! This helps to escape from exhausting heat, as a bonus - there is also a picturesque pool.
You will get either a separate house or a semi-detached house - it’s spacious, plain inside but clean.
Breakfast was surprisingly good: first you get a fruit plate, basket of fresh bread, and several great options of “main courses” to choose.
Everything else was excellent and exceeded my expectations. The room was big, confortable with a king sized bed, fan and air conditioning.
Everything (room, sheet, amenities, etc...) is clean and tidy.
Small pool next to my room.
There were not many guests so the hotel was rather quiet.
Excellent value for money.
I hope/wish that all the other hotels I book will be/were like this one
Lovely and quiet hotel, nice big pool and garden around it. Room was spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Too bad breakfast was not included, and they don´t have a restaurant. (We had our breakfast at "Hotel Rincodada del Convento", a beautiful spot, the bar being built on top of some old Maya steps. Highly recommended!)
A hidden gem in the Yucatan! It's a great escape from the over touristy places in the region and was a highlight of our trip. In between the busier cities/sites nearby (Merida, Chichen Itza), Macan Che is the perfect spot for a few days of calm in Izamal.
Beautiful space in a perfect location. Staff was constantly going out of their way to assist with parking. Rooms were so spacious, I felt like I was living in my own hacienda. Marvelous hotel and a beautiful “magic town” in the Yucatán.
The hotel was easy to find, the staff, Jose was very friendly. Bed and bathroom were room were very clean. we couldn't used the pool cause we didn't have time but it looks very inviting, overall we had a very nice stay.
You would be unlikely to find a better location in Izamal. Directly across from the famous Convent and with a view of the top of a pyramid from the hotel. The pool, terrace and hotel grounds were all fantastic amenities.
Very good hotel. Perfect location, big room with comfortable beds. The style for me European guy was really different and I like it as the city of Izamal as well. We all were under huge impression of this area.
Loved the pool. Loved the room. Loved the snacks and bar at the pool. Loved the parking. Beautiful bathrooms. Loved the morning coffee. Wish we had booked 2 nights we liked the hotel and the town so much.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience here! This hotel is absolutely beautiful and is in the perfect location right outside the main convent and municipal market. I highly recommend staying here.
The swimming pool is glorious, the hotel is super cute and the garden area very nice. Rooms are very basic, but comfortable. All you need for a great stay at Izamal, ah, and location is amazing!
Beautiful hacienda. Great breakfast. Rooms are very nice and clean. The staff very attentive and the manager of the hotel speaks perfect English which is not so common in Mexico.
We only stayed in Izamal for one night and were looking for a hotel which had a big room for a family of four and the possibility to park inside. This hotel met our needs.
Excellent location, everything in izamal can then be done walking. The place is comfortable, with a lot of interesting decorations.
Rather cheap, so excellent value.
